Best known as a pioneer of creative seasonal fare in St. Louis, Chef Bill Cardwell has been a fixture in the local culinary field for 30 plus years. It’s hard to remember a time when Cardwell wasn’t at the helm of one of the best eateries in town or out in the community promoting the value of sustainability and locally-grown food including Cardwell’s, Cardwell’s at the Plaza and BC’s Kitchen.
After a long, successful career owning and operating full-service restaurants, Chef Cardwell is focusing the next chapter of his culinary career on more intimate, customized settings including teaching, consulting and hosting interactive private events.
A tireless community contributor, Cardwell remains committed to supporting the success of the independent restaurant community and numerous charities and causes that are close to his heart such as the St. Louis Area Food Bank.
Chef Cardwell graduated from the Culinary Institute of America with the highest honors.
He apprenticed under world renowned chef Albert Stockli of the Four Seasons, New York City. He then jetted off to Switzerland to learn more about his craft from a more international perspective. Over the past five decades, Cardwell’s professional experiences have run the gamut from small family-owned businesses to Culinary Director of a national corporation. Chef Cardwell is well known for his culinary contributions as Chef/Owner at Cardwell’s, Cardwell’s at the Plaza and BC’s Kitchen.
